Coarse grain mustard celeriac mash really is one of the easiest and tastiest side dishes of all. Being very low in starch, celeriac root is a great alternative to mashed potato . Also, you don’t need to add salt or pepper as the mustard gives the dishes a great depth of flavour.

Celeriac Mash

Serves 4 – 

  • 1 large celeriac root (about 400g) peel and cubed
  • 2 tablespoons dairy free yoghurt
  • 1 tablespoon coarse grain mustard


  • Place the celeriac into a pan of water, bring to the boil and cook until soft (about 15 minutes)
  • Drain the water from the pan
  • Add the yoghurt and mustard to the pan
  • Whizz the mixture a hand-held blender until almost smooth
  • Serve

Tips –

  • If stored in a cool dry place, celeriac root will keep more several weeks or more. Be sure to remove the finer roots strands and any soil before storing.
